Lumberjacks Clinch Berth in Championship

The Covington Lumberjacks defeated the Waynesboro Generals 6-0 on Saturday Night to clinch a berth in the 2008 Valley League Championship Series. The Lumberjacks will face either Luray or Staunton starting on Monday or Tuesday in a best-of-five series. The Lumberjacks will host games two and four of the series.

Guevara Becomes First Lumberjack in
Major League Baseball


The San Diego Padres have re-called 2002 Lumberjack Carlos Guevara from a rehab stint with the Portland Beavers. Guevara was called up on Saturday, May 31 as is available to pitch for the Padres. Guevara will work out the bullpen for the Padres, who currently sit near the bottom of the National League West Division.
